MILLIGAN, Tenn. — Vasilios Diakomihalis made four second-half saves as CIU men's soccer battled Milligan to a 0-0 draw Saturday in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
The Rams moved to 5-5-4 overall and 3-2-3 in the AAC, while Milligan finished the afternoon at 9-2-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference play.
CIU kept the Buffaloes without a shot on goal in the first half while creating two opportunities on target. Julian Rodriguez tested the goalkeeper in the 11th minute, and Josiah Clermont added a header on goal in the 39th as the teams entered halftime scoreless.
Diakomihalis answered twice in the opening 14 minutes of the second half to keep Milligan off the scoreboard. At the other end, Turner Ferguson put a header on target in the 62nd minute before Nathan King forced another save in the 81st.
The Rams weathered Milligan's late push, with Diakomihalis stopping a header in the 86th minute and making his final save in the 89th to preserve the shutout.
Milligan held a 9-7 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, but both teams finished with four shots on goal. Rodriguez led CIU with two shots.
CIU returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 21, traveling to Columbia College for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
