WEST POINT, GA. - CIU wrapped up its four-game series at Point University (Ga.) on Friday afternoon. The Rams stayed within striking distance in game three before dropping a close 3–0 decision. In game four, CIU's offense began to find its rhythm, but the Skyhawks' 12-run performance proved too much in a 12–6 loss.
Game Three: Point 3 CIU 0: Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings before Point broke the deadlock with a run in the bottom of the third. CIU responded with a scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with two outs behind a single from Corbin Wright and two walks, but the Rams were unable to capitalize. The Skyhawks tacked on another run in the fourth and extended their lead to 3–0 in the fifth. CIU threatened again in the sixth after recording two singles, but a double play halted the rally, and neither team scored over the final two innings.
Wright led the team with two hits, and Eli Musgraves and Kai Smith recorded one. Garris and Collin Otte combined for four strikeouts, with Otte allowing just one hit.
Game Four: Point 12 CIU 6: Jennings Greene took advantage of multiple Skyhawk defensive miscues to score in the first inning, but Point answered with seven runs over the next three frames. CIU closed the gap in the fourth, using three hits and an error to plate four runs and pull within two at 7–5. The Skyhawks responded immediately with four runs of their own to push the lead to 11–5. Point added another run in the bottom of the fifth before Ian D'Amico led off the sixth with a triple and scored on an RBI from David Mora. Will Shelton held Point scoreless in the sixth, but the Rams were unable to erase the deficit.
Six different Rams notched a hit, while Mora and Wright each recorded an RBI. The Rams' pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts, and Otte led with four. Will Shelton was the most productive, striking out two with no walks or hits in 1.0 innings.
