CLEVELAND, Ga. — CIU volleyball improved to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play with a 3-0 sweep of Truett McConnell on Tuesday night at the Harris Athletic Complex.
The Rams rolled to set wins of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-14 behind a balanced effort. Setter Macy Brooks dished out 41 assists and added 10 digs. Lydia Gustafson and Mary Norwood each tallied 10 kills, while Zcearia James added nine kills and 13 digs. Katelynn Mundy chipped in eight kills.
On defense, Kelcey Mangum led CIU with 15 digs, followed by James with 13. At the net, Gustafson paced the Rams with four total blocks, while Norwood added two.
CIU finished the match with 45 kills on 106 swings for a .330 hitting percentage, while holding Truett McConnell to just .017. The Rams also collected 65 digs, 10 total blocks, and two service aces.
The Rams return home to face Johnson (Tenn.) on Friday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. ET.
