ROCK HILL, S.C. — Columbia International's men's and women's cross country teams turned in competitive performances Friday at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational held at the Winthrop Farm Course.
On the women's side, Elizabeth Gustafson paced the Rams with a 10th-place finish in 22 minutes, 12.3 seconds over the 5K course. Morgan Hartman followed closely in 11th at 22:16.3, while senior Jordan Wray ran 25:00.6 for 16th. Christine Morales rounded out CIU's finishers in 28:24.8. Host Winthrop captured the women's team title with 17 points.
In the men's 8K race, Jacobo Garcia-Rivera led the Rams with a 10th-place showing in 28:50.8. Joey Canning was 21st in 31:05.5, and freshman Corbin Otto crossed in 37:21.7. Winthrop also claimed the men's team championship with 18 points, followed by South Carolina State and Johnson & Wales.
The Rams next race will take place on Oct. 11 at the Sand Shark Invite in Bluffton.
