KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The CIU men's cross country team turned in a competitive showing at the Appalachian Challenge, led by Jacobo Garcia-Rivera's in the men's 8,000-meter race on Saturday.

Garcia-Rivera clocked a time of 27 minutes, 3.34 seconds to pace the Rams, continuing his consistent season form against a strong field. Joey Canning followed with a time of 28:19.70, while Mark Zagata rounded out CIU's effort in 31:05.32.

CIU will return to action in two weeks as the team looks to build on Friday's performance at the Appalachian Athletics Conference (AAC) Championship, Nov. 7.
