COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia International's five-year run of regular-season dominance at home came to an end Saturday as the Rams fell 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 25-23) to Reinhardt in Appalachian Athletic Conference play at the Moore Fitness Center.
The defeat ended CIU's 46-match regular-season home winning streak, which stretched back to 2020. The Rams (5-5, 1-1 AAC) had not lost a regular-season match in Columbia in more than four seasons.
Zcearia James paced CIU with 11 kills, while Eevy Bellar added seven kills and four service aces. Mary Norwood chipped in eight kills, and setter Skylar Dewhirst finished with 19 assists. Libero Kelcey Mangum anchored the back row with a team-high 15 digs.
After dropping the opening set, CIU nearly evened the match in the second, erasing a late deficit to push it to extra points before falling 28-26. The Rams then built an early advantage in the third set but could not hold off a late rally.
CIU will head up I-26 on Tuesday, Sept. 23 to take on Spartanburg Methodist at 6:30 p.m. ET.
