COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU baseball (10-10, 3-6 AAC) took the field to conclude their series against the Bluefield Rams (6-7 1-2 AAC) in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. CIU exploded offensively and combined for 24 runs on the afternoon to win their first Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) series 2-1 and improve to .500 on the season.
GAME TWO: CIU 11 Bluefield 7: Bluefield opened the game with four runs in the first, but the Rams responded with eight of their own after four errors and four hits (8-4). Both teams added another in the second, and Bluefield scored two in the third to trail 9-7. Neither team pushed another runner across until a two-run homer in the seventh from Colton Lopez gave the Rams an 11-7 advantage. Connor Kirkley took the mound in the ninth and retired the side to secure the Rams' victory.

GAME THREE: CIU 13 Bluefield 4: Graham Peeler got the Rams on the board in the first inning with a two-run homer, and this lead was extended with four runs in the second, including a two-RBI double from Peeler. A wild pitch in the third allowed Mason Turner to score and give CIU a 7-0 lead. Bluefield responded with two runs in the fourth, but four hits and three pitching miscues from Bluefield allowed CIU to add four more runs and lead 11-2. A pinch hit from Hunter Cheslak in the fifth scored two more runs, and Bluefield responded with two of their own in the sixth. Collin Otte closed the game with three consecutive outs for CIU's second win of the day.
