COLUMBIA - In their final home game of the 2024-2025 season, Thursday, CIU women's basketball fell to Bluefield University (Va.) 56-48 on Senior Night.
The Rams led for portions of the first quarter, going up 8-4 on a Magdalena Mihaljevic  3-pointer, and then led again by four (1:31) on a Zhani Thompson layin. However, the Rams succumbed to a 15-0 run from Bluefield that stretched into the second quarter, and CIU found itself down 35-23 at halftime.
After an even third quarter, CIU held Bluefield to just six points in the fourth period. The Rams trailed 54-48 with 34 seconds left but were unable to connect on opportunities in the game's final moments.
Senior Mariah Leinbach scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Bethany Rymer scored nine points on 6-of-6 shooting from the foul line. Freshman Jerchel Geathers-Washington rounded out CIU's scoring with eight.
