SUMTER - CIU baseball moved two games above .500 on Wednesday with two mid-week wins over NAIA in-state opponent Morris College. The Rams are now on a three-game win streak, holding an 8-6 overall record. CIU carries an all-time record of 9-1 versus the Hornets.
Game One: CIU 6 Morris 4: The Rams got on the board quickly in the top of the first inning as Mason Turner notched a two-RBI double to put the Rams up. Turner crossed himself the plate moments later on a Noah Davis triple. The first inning would end with CIU up 4-0. The Rams wouldn't score again until the fifth when Graham Peeler tallied an RBI double. Morris responded in the bottom of the sixth to bring the deficit to just one run, 5-4. Turner fittingly helped CIU close the game out with an RBI triple in the seventh as the Rams held on to beat the Hornets 6-4.

Game Two: CIU 18 Morris 3: After leading 2-0 heading into the second inning, the Rams would explode for ten runs in the top of the frame. In the second inning, CIU recorded four hits while seven players were either walked or hit by a pinch. The Rams added four more in the third, two runs crossing the plate off walks and two crossing the plate on errors. The route was on as the Rams scored 18 runs, marking the fifth time this season they have scored ten or more runs in a game.
