COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's basketball took a short trip down the road to take on crosstown rival Columbia College (S.C.). The Rams battled hard but fell 84-38 in the midweek contest.
Game Recap: Columbia College and CIU traded leads five times in a tightly contested first quarter before the Koalas pulled ahead at the 1:22 mark, taking a 14-10 advantage into the break. Columbia College took control in the second quarter, surging to a 39-19 lead by halftime.
The Rams found their rhythm in the third, posting their best offensive stretch with 13 points, led by Magdelena Mihaljevic with four. However, CIU struggled in the fourth, managing just six points as Columbia College sealed an 84-38 victory.
Mihaljevic paced the Rams with eight points, while Irene Ware and Jessica North anchored the defense with eight rebounds each. Katlynn Chinn made her presence felt on defense, leading the team with five steals.
