Rams advance to AAC semifinals with 2–0 win over Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga. — CIU women's soccer delivered a breakthrough performance Wednesday evening, securing a 2-0 victory over Reinhardt University in the Appalachian Athletic Conference  (AAC) quarterfinals.

After a quiet start to the first half, the Rams broke through in the 17th minute when graduate midfielder Mazzie Leos buried a shot, assisted by Lohrane Boaventoura, to put CIU ahead 1-0. The Rams maintained their momentum, weathering sustained pressure while their back line and goalkeeper stood firm to record the team's 10th shutout of the season.

Early in the second, CIU added insult to injury with a goal from Charlotte Craver on an assist from Callie Rowe, capping a composed and disciplined performance that avenged last year's quarterfinal loss to Reinhardt.

The victory sends CIU (13-4-1, 9-3-1 AAC) to the AAC semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons. The Rams will next face No. 1 seed Truett McConnell on Nov. 4 for a spot in the conference championship match.
