KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — CIU women's soccer held off Johnson (Tenn.) for a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon due to a second-half goal and a sterling performance in net.
In a tightly contested match, the only goal came in the 34th minute of the first half. Forward
Zamaria Baugh found the back of the net off an assist from
Lohrane Boaventura, giving CIU a lead they would not relinquish.
CIU tested the goal with 14 shots (8 on target) compared to Johnson's 10 (5 shots on target). The Rams also won the corners battle 9 to 3. On defense, CIU held firm, keeping their hosts off the scoreboard.

Hailey Resetar was flawless. She made five saves in 90 minutes to preserve the shutout and earn the victory for her side.
The win improves CIU's record to 10-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in conference play, keeping them atop the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) standings. Johnson falls to 2-7-1, 1-6-0 in league action.
CIU will face No. 13 Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Ga., at 4:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 8
