MONTREAT - Winning seems to come easier and easier for CIU volleyball within the Appalachian Atheltic Conference (AAC)as the Rams chalked up their sixth AAC sweep of the season on Tuesday to climb to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in conference action. The Rams blanked the undefeated Montreat Cavaliers 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) to extend their current win streak to 12 matches.
The early week match featured a stout defensive performance from the Rams, with
Gabriela Vega leading the way with six blocks. Vega was phenomenal in all facets of the match, also posting two aces and seven kills.
Hadassah Davis led the Rams in kills with nine, while
Katie Camp pitched in seven of her own. CIU's two-setter system resulted in
Kamelia De Jesus adding 24 assists to her season total, while
Melissa Campos Soto contributed 15.
Kelcey Mangum continues to hold down CIU's backline, penciling 17 digs into the box score.
