Baseball stifles Morris in 12-2 midweek rout

COLUMBIA - CIU baseball added win number five all-time versus Morris College (S.C.) on Tuesday. The Rams dismantled the Hornets 12-2, forcing an eight-inning rule to move to 10-22 on the season.

Game Summary: Morris struck first in the top of the first inning on a two-run single. However, the Rams chipped away at the lead, scoring two runs in the second on singles by Collin Greer and David Mora, followed by another in the third on a single by Kai Smith.

The game remained close until the bottom of the fifth inning, when CIU exploded for four runs. Shane Hammonds highlighted the inning by doubling home two runs, and Graham Peeler followed with an RBI double of his own in the bottom of the sixth. The sixth inning was capped by a sacrifice fly from Hammonds and a fielding error by the Morris shortstop that plated another run, putting CIU up 10-2

Morris managed just two hits over the final six innings and was unable to overcome the CIU rally.
