MELBOURNE, Fla. - CIU softball headed down to the Sunshine State for a spring break tournament at the Space Coast Spring Games, held at the USSAA Space Coast Complex. The Rams took on (RV) Missouri Baptist University and Ursuline College Tuesday afternoon and went 1-1 on the day. CIU is now 9-11 on the season.
Game One: MBU 12 CIU 1: Missouri Baptist took the lead in the second inning, but CIU tied the game in the bottom of the third after Macey Drye scored on a squeeze bunt. The Trojans scored six runs in the fifth to regain the lead. They tacked on five more in the final two frames, and the Rams could not respond to the 11-run deficit.

Game Two: CIU 10 UC 3: The Rams took an early lead after scoring seven runs in the first inning, highlighted by four RBI from Macey Drye. The Arrows scratched one in the bottom of the first and fourth to cut the lead to 7-2. Sophia Noreiga hit an RBI single in the fifth, but Ursuline matched that to bring the score 8-3. Stolzenbach and Drye recorded an RBI in the final two frames to bring CIU to ten runs. Sadie Johnson allowed one runner to reach in the final inning, but a flyout ended the scoring threat.
