POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - It was once again all Rams Thursday afternoon as CIU women's volleyball closed out NCCAA Championship Pool Play with a sweep of Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 25-12, 25-19, 25-11. The win continues a narrative that has told the story of the CIU's dominance over the past 48 hours as the Rams go 3-0 in pool play, win Pool A, and advance to the semifinals. The Rams have won their pool in their last three trips to the NCCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship.
The Ram's firepower was on display as CIU defeated MACU by double-digits in two of the matches' three sets. Kira Rymer Attaway picked up where she left off on Wednesday as the graduate right-side posted 13 kills and a .419 hitting percentage. Hanah Weis recorded seven kills, while Hadassah Davis picked up six. Lydia Gustafson headlined a formidable defensive effort with six total blocks as the Rams tallied 16 blocks, assists, and three solo blocks.
Lexabel Rojas (13 digs) and Kelcey Mangum (23 digs) contributed to CIU's success, while Melissa Campos Soto led the Rams in assists with 18. Setter Kamelia De Jesus is currently 23 assists away from 5,000 career assists after totaling nine on Thursday.
