WALESKA, Ga. - CIU women's soccer kicked off the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Soccer Tournament with a road game against the No. 3 seeded Reinhardt University (Ga.). The Rams took on the Eagles early in the season and narrowly lost 1-0. It seemed as if CIU would take the victory and advance to the semifinals, but two goals in the last twenty minutes of the contest would end the Rams' post-season run.
Match Summary: Reinhardt's offense dominated much of the match, pinning the Rams in their own defensive half. But despite the pressure, CIU capitalized on a key opportunity as Amber McKinley netted a shot off an assist from Callie Rowe, putting the Rams on the scoreboard in the 26th minute. Goalkeeper Hailey Resetar kept the Eagles at bay with five crucial saves, helping CIU hold a narrow 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, however, the Rams struggled to generate offense and could not take any shots. Reinhardt equalized in the 70th minute and quickly seized the lead just two minutes later. CIU couldn't find a late response, and the game ended with the Rams narrowly falling 2-1.
