WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU men's cross country competed in their second season meet on Saturday morning at the 2023 Akiah McMillan Invitational. Taking place at the Par Tee Golf Center, this meet is hosted by fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent, Columbia College (S.C.). The Rams competed against NCAA D1, D2, and NAIA opponents. 

The men's team completed the course in 2:29:32. Nathaniel Long was the first runner to cross the finish line for the Rams, clocking in at 29:19.0. Joey Canning finished not long after with a time of 29:22.4. 

Gavin Barfield was the third Ram to complete the 8k course for a final time of 30:11.7. Spencer Evans and Spencer Dyke closed things out, finishing in 30:40.5 and 34:29.0, respectively. 

Head Coach Michael Knight says, "Today was a big step in the right direction for our guys! Nathaniel led the pack with an incredible PR, and everyone fought hard."
