Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - Following a win on Tuesday over Campbellsville University (Ky.), the CIU men's soccer team traveled to the Peach State to face off against the Brewton-Parker College on Saturday. The Rams have a perfect history against the Barons, going unbeaten since their first matchup in 2017. CIU kept that streak alive picking up the 4-1 win and are now 4-0 versus BPC.
Scoring Summary:
CIU's offense came out firing on all-cylinders, with four shots and two corner-kicks before the 17th minute. However, Brewton-Parker's offense came alive and scored the game's first goal forty minutes into the match. The Rams took four more shots before Romulo Barreto found the back of the net off an assist from Paul Schütte to even the score less than a minute before the half.
Barreto scored his second goal of the game, off an assist from Marco Muhlebach, to give CIU the first lead of the game (49'). Mariano Calderon extended their lead to 3-1 with his first goal of the season. Six minutes later, Barreto scored for the third time, assisted by Muhlebach, for his first hat trick of the season.
Schütte picked up one assist, and Muhlebach recorded the first three assists of his career. The Rams only gave up eight shots to the Barons, while CIU took a season-high 20 shots.
