Volleyball matches single-season win streak with triumph over Montreat

COLUMBIA - CIU volleyball claimed their 15th straight victory on Tuesday, tying their longest win streak in a single season in program history. The Rams (15-0, 6-0 AAC) defeated Montreat (N.C.) 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-16) to coincidentally win their 15th Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season match dating back to Oct. 11, 2022.

Montreat displayed some firepower to start the match as the Cavaliers held a 10-7 lead over the Rams in the first set. However, from that point on, CIU did not look back, taking care of business in the rest of the first set and dismantling Montreat in sets two and three.

The AAC's leader in hitting percentage, Kira Rymer Attaway was deadly accurate once again for CIU, hitting .571 with 13 kills. Fellow outside hitter Hanah Weiss had a few miscues early in the contest but quickly recovered to add ten kills to her season total. Sophomore Gracen Norris and Hadassah Davis lent a helping hand offensively, each with eight kills, as CIU hit .330 as a team.

Lydia Gustafson continued to tower at the net as she led the Rams in blocks with four block assists, while libero Kelcey Mangum stuffed the box score with six assists and 12 digs.

Head coach Katie Weiss continues to utilize a two-setter rotation as Melissa Campos Soto notched 16 assists and Kamelia De Jesus posted 18.

Every player who donned a CIU uniform hit the floor during the evening as 18 different players saw action for the Rams.
