MILLIGAN, Tenn – The Rams headed up to Tennessee today to take on the Buffalos in a crucial mid-week matchup. Coming into the game, the teams had an even conference record and were fighting for a spot in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) conference championships. CIU had a hot start in both games, but ultimately couldn't keep the Buffs off the scoreboard late and fell in game one 4-10, and in game two 9-14.
Game One MU 10 CIU 4: CIU punished Milligan early, with two fielding errors setting up Margaret Schubert for a double in the third that would score three runs. The Buffalos would add four during their turn at bat in the third, and the score stayed 4-3 until the sixth inning. An Ally Clapp single would drive in one more run to tie the game, but Milligan got hot and drove home six more runs to finish off the Rams.
Box Notes:
- Lauren Baker and Dallas Mayers both had two hits apiece.
- Cissy Doolittle pitched most of the game for the Rams. She had four walks and two strikeouts.
- Neither team scored in an inning where the other did not score.
Game Two: MU 14 CIU 9: The runs came fast and early for both teams, including a solo Home Run from Haylee Wilkerson, with the score being 5-4 after four innings. The Buffaloes got through in the fifth, though, scoring nine runs through a combination of well-placed hits and errors from the Rams. A Taylor Allen three-run double in the sixth would cut the lead, but it was too little, too late, and Milligan held CIU scoreless in the seventh.

Looking Ahead: The Rams will continue their Appalachian swing on Thursday at the number two team in the AAC, Kentucky Christian University. First pitches are scheduled for 1 PM and 3 PM.
