ATHENS, Tenn. - CIU took a trip to face off against No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan University on Thursday afternoon for games one and two of their three-game series. The Rams have two wins in program history against the Bulldogs but came up just short from stealing a victory this afternoon. Six of the Rams' ten games this season have now come against NAIA Top-25 ranked opponents.
Game One: CIU 2 TWU 12: Britton Morris put the Rams on the board in the second inning with a solo shot over the right-field fence. TWU would remain scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when their bats came alive, and they scored seven runs on six hits. The Bulldogs pushed two more across in the seventh to extend their lead to 9-1. Jan Maldonado recorded an RBI groundout in the top of the eighth to give CIU their second run of the game, but TWU responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to collect the victory in run-rule fashion.

Game Two: CIU 5 TMU 6: TWU struck in the bottom of the first after an RBI flyout to take a 1-0 lead. CIU tied it up in the second when Chase Hadley pushed Britton Morris across home plate. The Bulldogs added two more of their own in the second and third to take the lead 3-1. CIU's offense came alive in the top of the fourth when they seized an advantage of 4-3 thanks to one hit, one hit by pitch, and two errors. TMU took the lead in the fifth when they tacked on two more runs, but the Rams tied it up in the sixth off of a single from Brandt Miller (5-5). CIU could not plate another run in the seventh to break the tie, but the Bulldogs took game two when they scored in the bottom of the inning.
