KANSAS CITY - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its Women's Volleyball National Championship pool play assignments on Sunday. For the first time in program history, CIU women's volleyball will take part in championship pool play after defeating Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
Pool play features a reseeding of the 24 teams who advanced past the Opening Round. These teams are then broken into eight pools of three, with the winner of each pool moving on to an eight-team bracket.
CIU has been reseeded as the No. 20 overall seed and will share a pool with No. 5 Viterbo (Wis.) and No. 12 Southern Oregon. Viterbo (31-4, 12-0 NSAA) hails from the North Star Athletic Association, while Southern Oregon (27-6, 18-4 CCC) competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
The Rams will take on Viterbo on Nov. 29 at 4:00 p.m. CT and will battle Southern Oregon on Nov. 30 at 4:00 p.m. CT. All NAIA National Championship matches will be played at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, and will be broadcast on the NAIA Network. The semifinals and championship will air on ESPN3.
