CLEVELAND, Ga. - CIU softball took on Truett McConnell University (Ga.) as they continued their road trip around the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Friday afternoon. The Rams played well defensively but were unable to get their bats going, as they fell in both contests to the Bears. CIU moves to 15-21-1 on the season and 6-9 in the AAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE: CIU 0 TMU 1: After both teams were ineffective through the first three innings, Truett McConnell brought in the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Rams never found their rhythm at the plate and, as a result, lost to the Bears in game one.
BOX SCORE NOTES:
- CIU was outhit by TMU 5-1.
- Mary Esterak gave the Rams six solid innings, allowing only five hits with four strikeouts.
- Hallie Miller was responsible for the Ram's only hit, which came in the seventh inning.
GAME TWO: CIU 0 TMU 4: Truett McConnell put up two runs in the second inning to take the lead over the Rams. CIU continued to struggle at the plate and couldn't score runs despite a well-played defensive effort. TMU added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to give them the series win.
