WALESKA, Ga. - Looking to bounce back from a loss over Truett McConnell on Thursday, CIU men's basketball hoped to get a win on the road at Reinhardt Univesity (Ga.) on Saturday. However, despite leading for much of the game, the Rams were upended by the Eagles (17-9, 14-6 AAC) by a score of 84-69. CIU moves to 13-10 and 9-9 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC.)
CIU jumped out to a 13-2 advantage and led for the entirety of the first half, with their largest lead of the half coming at 24-10. The Eagles battled back to trim the advantage to 37-33 at the break, DiAnthony led the Rams in scoring after the first 20 minutes with eight points. After being tied at 40-40 at the 16:08 mark in the second half, disaster struck for the Rams as the Eagles went on a 27 to 8 run. With Reinhardt leading 67-48 with seven minutes remaining, CIU couldn't recover and dropped their tenth game of the season.Â
Darrian Oates accounted for 43% of the Rams scoring as he put up 30 points, going 11-of-15 from the field. Oates led the Rams in both assists (7) and rebounds (5).
No other player reached double-figures as Jalen Brinson and DiAnthony Heathcock scored eight points apiece.Â
