COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU baseball bounced back after a difficult weekend on Monday afternoon as they swept Morris College (S.C.) in an NAIA nonconference doubleheader. The Rams took down Morris by scores of 18-2 and 6-3 as CIU moved to 6-11 on the season. CIU is now 6-0 all-time against the Hornets.
GAME ONE NOTES: CIU 18 Morris 2 :
- Tyler Parker pitched the entirety of the contest, recording a career-high nine strikeouts allowing just four hits.
- Joshua Hernandez led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a homerun, a double, and three RBI's.
- Shane Hammonds had his best game of the year going 3-for-3 with five RBI's and two doubles.
- As a team, the Ram's recorded a season-high 14 hits and 14 RBI's.
GAME TWO NOTES: CIU 6 Morris 3:
- The Rams put four pitchers on Monday as Noah Moody picked up the win, not allowing any hits and recording a strikeout. Hunter Garris pitched the final inning of the contest and recorded the save.
- Price Alexander recorded two RBI's picking up a hit and a sacrifice fly in three at-bats.
- Carter Willis went 2-for-3, notching an RBI and extending a well-hit ball into a triple.
