Rams latest win-streak continues with afternoon doubleheader

COLUMBIA, S.C - CIU volleyball received two wins on Saturday, one in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) and one out of conference play. Both victories came against Truett McConnell (Ga.) as CIU took on the Bears in an afternoon doubleheader. Match one counted towards the AAC standings as the Rams picked up the sweep. CIU saw continued success in the second match, recording another 3-0 win. The Rams are now 27-7 overall and 16-1 in the AAC.

MATCH ONE: CIU 3 TMU 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19): The Rams continued a week that has been highlighted by impressive serving as CIU recorded nine aces without giving up one themselves. Jadaeya Morrell's sky-high hitting percentage (.778) was the talking point for match one, with Morrell totaling seven kills with no errors on just seven attempts. Kira Rymer and Abbey Kleist totaled 12 and nine kills repectively while the offensive performance was rounded out by 35 assists from Kamelia De Jesus. 11 digs came by way of Kelcey Mangum with Morrell assisted in deflecting the Bear attack with two solo blocks.

MATCH TWO: CIU 3 TMU 0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-10): Freshmen were the story of the second match, with Hadassah Davis leading CIU in kills recording 14, while Katie Nichols led the Rams in aces, with four. Kelcey Mangum was solid once again as she tallied a match-high of 15 digs. Not to be outdone by her younger teammates, Kamelia De Jesus was everywhere in match two with 39 assists, seven digs, two solo blocks, and a well-executed setter dump, which resulted in a kill. Two other upperclassmen were also crucial to the Ram effort, as Kira Rymer contributed 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage while Abbey Kleist turned in ten kills of her own
