CIU Women's Soccer takes down Knights 2-1 on the road
GRAYSON, KY - The CIU women's soccer team headed to Grayson, Kentucky, for their third conference game of the season Saturday at noon.  The Rams reign victorious again, defeated Knights of Kentucky Christian, 2-1, to improve to 3-0 in conference play. 

Scoring Summary: 
The game's first goal would come from the Knights, as Anissa Trujillo would put one in the back of the net at the 21:31 minutes mark of the first half. The Rams would be down 1-0 until Mercy Berkemeyer would strike, on an assist from Haley Hernandez, just past the 42:00 minute mark to tie the game going into the half. 

The Rams would strike first in the second half, on a goal by Leaoness Hinojos, which was assisted by Sara Fragomeni at the 65:47 minutes mark. The Rams took the lead 2 to 1 and would not surrender a goal as they took down Kentucky Christian on the road.  

Mercy Berkemeyer has been on a tear in 2021. The freshmen scored for the fifth time this season, which is tied for first on the team.

What Coach Kara Farnsworth Lail is saying: 
"After a long weekend of facing a lot of adversity, we are happy to walk away with a 2-1 victory over KCU. Playing on the road is tough, but the girls fought hard all weekend, and I'm proud of how they are continuing to come together as a team." 

What's Next:
The Rams head to Cleveland, Georgia, for their next game against the No. 25 ranked Truett McConnell Bears on Saturday, Sept. 25th at 4 PM.
