Rams end season on a high note with win over Carolina University

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The CIU women's soccer team traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Wednesday to battle Carolina University. This marks the final game of the Rams season, as the Bruins are the last scheduled non-conference opponent on the schedule. CIU would end the season well, with a convincing 2-1 win over Carolina University. 

Key Plays

  • The Bruins pressured first, taking a shot that was saved, Rams goalkeeper Emily Nelson
  • The Rams found some offense in the first half, tallying 14 shots on goal. Despite this pressing attack, CIU was unable to gain an advantage on the score sheet, heading into halftime none all. 
  • CIU struck first in the second half, with a score from McKenzie Miller, assisted by Tara Collins. The Rams took a 1-0 lead early in the second half. 
  • Carolina University would even the game at one-all with a score in the 21:13 minute mark. 
  • The Rams were awarded a penalty kick after a Carolina University foul. Rebekah Reinhard took the penalty and would convert, giving the Rams a 2-1 lead and victory over the Bruins.

- Rebekah Reinhard converted a big penalty kick, giving CIU the win. 
- Emily Nelson stood tall in net with eight saves allowing only one goal on the day. 

The Rams end the 2020-2021 season with a 7-6-2 record.
