CLEVELAND, Ga. - CIU baseball is peeking at just the right time as they won their second Appalachian Athletic Conference series in a row on Friday. CIU (26-23) split their doubleheader with Truett McConnell on Friday after defeating the Bears in game one on Thursday. The Rams won game two 9-3 and then fell in game three 7-6. The series win is critical to the AAC playoff picture as CIU now jumps ahead of TMU in the conference standings as CIU moves to 7th place in the conference standings and TMU falls to 8th.
Game Two: CIU 9 TMU 3:
- Grant Bodison has stepped up as of late as he went 3-5 with three RBI's and a double.
- The Rams picked up a solid game from Alex Miller as the DH as the McBee native went 2-3 with three RBI's while scoring two runs.
- Ram's second baseman Kody Trujillo played a pivotal role in CIU's win with two RBI's after being walked twice and recording a hit.
- Trent Polly snagged yet another conference win on the mound yielding three earned runs and while recording a strikeout.
- After recording 20 hits the day before, CIU once again notched double-digit hits with 10.
Game Three: TMU 7 CIU 6:
- Rafael Gonzales and Kody Trujillo were the only two players to record multiple hits as each player tallied two. Both players notched a double while Gonzales added to his RBI total with two.
- Carter Willis picked up two RBI's on his only hit of the game while Alex Miller stayed productive with an RBI on a sac fly.
- CIU recorded an impressive 31 runs over the three-game series.
