BABSON PARK, Fla. - The CIU Softball team stayed in Central Florida Saturday to play Webber International after dropping two games to #19 Warner University. The Rams hoped to bounce back against Webber, but the Warriors proved to be to much for CIU, as they would prevail through two games.
Game One: WIU 8, CIU 0
- Webber got off to a solid start scoring one run in the first inning from a fly-out RBI.
- The Warriors continued the scoring with three more runs in the 2nd inning, off of five hits.
- Webber didn't let up in the 3rd inning, scoring four runs off of four hits and a CIU error.
- Webber would close out the game in the 5th inning due to the run rule.
Game Two: WIU 6 CIU 2
- Webber picked up where they left off in game two, scoring a quick run in the 2nd inning from an unearned run due to a Rams error.
- The Warriors would extend the lead to 2-0, from an RBI single up the middle from Friend.
- The Rams kept the game close at 2-0 up until the 4th inning. The Webber bats proved too much for CIU, as the Warriors would explode to 6-0. Four big runs coming in the 4th inning, off of three hits and two errors to give Webber a 6-0 lead.
- The Rams cut the lead to four in the 6th inning, scoring an RBI single to left field from Sarah Trawick. During the next at-bat, Trawick advanced on a wild pitch, moving Ashlee Chinn to third and Robyn Andrews home to draw within four of Webber.
- CIU pitching kept Webber at bay for the remainder of the game; however, the Warrior defense proved too stiff for the Rams bats, as CIU would fall 6-2.
Key Players:
- Shannon Patton led the Rams bats today with two hits and a run in the second game.
- Freshman, Sarah Trawick saw significant action today, earning an RBI single.
