Men's Soccer runs past Knights in final contest of regular season

GRAYSON, Ky.  - CIU men's soccer took on the Kentucky Christian Knights Tuesday night to close out the 2021 regular season. The Rams (15-1 overall, 11-1) have already claimed the regular season Appalachian Athletic Conference title and looked to close out the season with a victory after falling for the first time this season to Bryan College (Tenn.) in their last contest. The Rams claimed their 16th victory of the season to cap off a historic regular season, convincingly defeating the Knights, 5-0.

Scoring Summary:
In Tuesday night's matchup, the Rams saw scoring from several people, tallying four goals in the first period. Romulo Barreto would strike first with a goal at the 9:25 mark on a shot that a Knights player deflected. Just over a minute later, Noe Limas would find the net for the Rams, making the score 2-0. Shortly after, Barreto would notch his second goal of the contest at the 12:31 mark. The goal would move him to the third all-time leading goal scorer in program history and his ninth of the season. The Ram's final first-half score would come from Lucas Galdino, his fifth of the year. The Rams would hold a 4-0 advantage at the half.

In the second half, Galdino would record his second goal of the contest to extend the Rams' advantage. CIU would maintain that 5-0 lead for the remainder of the contest. The Rams have outscored their opponents this year 53-11, tying the program record for most goals in a season.
