Volleyball claims fourth straight conference win in sweep of Skyhawks

COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU women's volleyball has been dominant over the past few weeks, and they continued that dominance Friday night, defeating Point University (GA.) in three straight sets (25-12, 25-11, 25-21). The Rams took down the Skyhawk's (9-10, 6-4 AAC) for their fourth straight in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. The Rams improve to 18-6 overall and 10-1 in the AAC.

The Rams were in-sync the entire night, with several players contributing to Friday's victory. Carla Cauchi and Kamelia De Jesus recorded double-digit digs, with De Jesus recording 17 and Cauchi adding 15. Ingrid Ferrari would also have an impact defensively for the Rams, as she recorded a program single match record, 14 total blocks. In addition, De Jesus continues her impressive season with 30  assists as she aims to claim the school record for career assists. The Rams were also on the attack consistently. Alana Sanjurjo led the way with ten kills on the night. Kira Rymer and Cintia Lorena were not far behind her, who each recorded nine to help the Rams seal their 10th conference win.

What Coach Amber Haver is saying: "It was great to be back on our home court. The front half of our season has been mostly on the road, so we are very thankful to be back in front of our home crowd this weekend. Looking forward to tomorrow."
