Eduardo’s late goal gives Rams 13th consecutive win
WEST POINT, GA - The CIU men's soccer team took on Point University Wednesday night. The Rams have been no stranger to tightly contested games, and they would find themselves in another close one against a physical Point squad. However,
Igor Eduardo would score for the Rams, which proved to be the game-winner, giving the Rams their ninth Appalachian Athletic Conference win. They improve to 13-0 and remain unbeaten in the AAC.
Scoring Summary:
The Rams were in a back-and-forth affair with the Skyhawks. Unfortunately, neither team could create an edge of separation throughout the first half, which would end scoreless.
The game would go to the second half, where it became much more tense and physical. Nine yellow cards were issued between both squads in the period. However, the Rams started to take control of the time of possession and the game overall. They would create more scoring opportunities with ten shots in the second half but couldn't connect. But, with just under three minutes remaining in the period,
Igor Eduardo would become the hero, finding the net for what proved to be the game-winner on an assist from
Lucas Galdino and
Rafael Carneiro.
What Coach Bill Brindley is saying:
"To go on the road and grind out a win like that against a physically tough team in Point is as gutsy a win as we've had this year. Nothing was pretty or ideal tonight, and the guys had to fight and work hard for each other to get this result."
What's Next:
The Rams will return home for a Saturday evening matchup with Tennessee Wesleyan on Oct. 23 at 2:30 PM.
