Rams record 14 aces in dismantling of Koalas

COLUMBIA, S.C. - CIU volleyball returned home on Tuesday for another impressive performance versus an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) foe. The Rams took down city rival Columbia Collge (S.C.), and the result of the contest was never in doubt as CIU cruised to a 3-0 (25-10. 25-12, 25-8) victory. The Rams move to 23-7 overall and 14-2 in the AAC; CIU currently sits second in the conference behind Bryan (Tenn.)

The Rams had a remarkable team win as CIU had 42 kills compared to 16 kills from the Koalas. CIU was dominant in serving with 14 aces while not allowing any from Columbia. Abbey Kleist was instrumental for CIU with ten kills, nine digs, four aces, and .429 hitting percentage. CIU's attack was strengthened by Mardi Scutchings and Kira Rymer, who each had nine kills. Rymer continues to make very few errors as she recorded a .450 hitting percentage for the evening. Setter Kamelia De Jesus notched a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs while also picking up three aces. Karla Rodriguez and Alana Sanjurjo combined for 26 digs, while Sanjurjo added three aces.

What Coach Haver is saying:

"Had an opportunity to put some new faces in tonight and try some different lineups while we are down a few players, due to injury. Everyone rose to the occasion and did their part. We played disciplined volleyball, which is the goal."
