Trawick Goes Perfect From the Field in CIU Loss

WALESKA, Ga – The CIU women's basketball team took on the second-place team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Wednesday evening. The Reinhardt Eagles entered the contest boasting a 19-2 record, only trailing the Bryan Lions in the conference standings. The Rams would keep pace with the Eagles during the first half but would ultimately fall behind 75-58 at the end of regulation.

How It Happened:

First Half RU 33 CIU 22: The Rams would open up the contest with a 4-1 lead behind Jordan Sprueill. However, a 15-1 run from the Eagles left the Rams trailing 21-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles extended their lead to 29-11, but six straight from Keniah Watkins would keep the Rams in the game. After a Hannah Trawick basket would trim lead to 31-20, only 4 points were scored in the final 3:00 minutes of the half to bring the halftime score to 33-22.

Second Half RU 75 CIU 58: Tiona Walls scored back to back buckets to cut the lead down to just seven, 33-26 to start the half for CIU. The Eagles then went on a small run, but Joy Jones scored inside and then knocked down two free throws to help the Rams keep pace, only lagging behind 54-43 at the end of three. The Eagles exploded in the fourth quarter to take a 20-point advantage despite a robust 6-point quarter from Hannah Trawick. The Rams would then stumble down the stretch, to lose 75-58.
