WALESKA, Ga. – The CIU baseball team started their first Appalachian Athletic Conference series Friday afternoon as they took on the (RV) Reinhardt Eagles. The Eagles (10-4) entered the series coming off a loss to Georgia Gwinnett College while the Rams (5-10) went into the afternoon a week removed from their last game due to weather-related cancelations. The Eagles would welcome the Rams into conference play by handing them a 12-1 loss
How It Happened:
The Rams fell behind 3-0 in the 1st inning but were able to get two runners on base in the top of 2nd but could not capitalize. The Eagles advantage was extended to 7-0 in the bottom of the 3rd, but CIU held Reinhardt scoreless in the 4th and 5th innings. Joshua Hernandez was able to get the Rams on the board in the 4th after getting on base off a single to left field and then crossed home plate off the bat of Jake Lewis. CIU's defense faltered in the final two innings, and the Rams gave up five more runs to fall 12-1.
