HARDEEVILLE, SC – CIU Rams baseball traveled to the Lowcountry on Tuesday to play their first-ever game in the state of South Carolina. CIU took on the Sand Sharks of the University of South Carolina – Beaufort, one of the few fellow NAIA schools in the state in a doubleheader. The Rams entered the contest with a 3-3 record coming off a 2-1 series win over NCCAA foe Trinity Baptist College. The Sand Sharks brought a 1-3 record into the afternoon after losing a series to AAC member Point University, 3-0
GAME ONE USCB 3 CIU 1:
Play by Play Highlights:
- (4th Inning) Kody Trujillo doubled to right field to get on base for the Rams.
- (4th Inning) Chandler Hunter (RF) hit a ground ball but then got on base after an error by the Sand Sharks first baseman.
- (4th Inning) Moments later, Hunter would steal second base, and Trujillo scored on a wild pitch.
- (5th Inning) Both Joshua Hernandez and Shane Hammonds singled, but the Rams were unable to punch in a run.

Pitching
- Skye Foster (P) led the Rams from the mound shutting out the Sand Sharks for three innings while picking up a strikeout in the process.
GAME TWO:

- (1st Inning) Pitcher Trent Polly (RHP)came in at with two outs at the bottom of the first inning and would strike out the first batter he faced to bring the Rams much needed momentum.
- (3rd Inning) After trailing 2-0, the Rams bats would come alive, and Josh Hernandez line drive would send the Hunter Coleman home to get the scoring starting for the Rams.
- (3rd Inning) With the bases loaded, Alex Miller (3B) was walked sending Shane Hammonds across the plate. One out later, a Chandler Hunter single put more points on the board as Joshua Hernandez scored.
- (3rd Inning) The Rams picked up two more runs in the inning for a total of five. One run came after Carter Willis (CF) was hit by a bench allowing for a Miller score while the final run of the inning was a result of Hunter Coleman (SS) hit forcing Gaven Causey (C) across home.
- (4th Inning) Two sacrifice fly balls one by Miller and one by Causey would give the Rams two more scores in the form of Josh Hernandez and Shane Hammonds.
- (5th Inning) Polly continued a sizzling hot afternoon, striking out yet another batter to start the bottom of the 5th.
- (6th Inning) Trujillo singled to centerfield for the Rams to pick up their ninth run of the game a Bleasedale (1B) scored.
Box Score Highlights
- The Rams notched eight RBI's and twelve hits coming from seven different bats.
- Shane Hammonds and Joshua Hernandez both picked up two hits while Hernandez also notched an RBI, and Hammonds recorded three doubles.
- Gaven Causey had two RBI's and a run.
- Hunter Coleman had two hits and an RBI to contribute the CIU win.
Pitching:
- Trent Polly was outstanding from the mound keeping the Sand Sharks from scoring a run while picking up five strikeouts, allowing only two hits in five innings.

CIU will take on #5 Georgia Gwinnett, Friday at 11 AM in and Toccoa Falls College later in the day at 3:30 PM.
