MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – Riding high off two consecutive wins, the CIU women's volleyball team headed west to face off against the Milligan University Buffaloes. Despite playing three tight sets, the Rams could not steal a single win from MU and fell 3-0. Milligan moves to 9-4 on the season while CIU falls to 5-4.
How it Happened:
Set One: The first set of the match was a nail biter as Milligan barely edged CIU. The Rams led 22-21 after a Kira Rymer but could only manage one more point in the set as the Buffs took set one 25-23.
Set Two: Again, the Rams and Buffs would find themselves deadlocked towards the end of the set, this time at 23. However, it would come down to who made more errors down the stretch, and Milligan barely scraped by CIU 26-24. Shaniece Steer had 4 kills and only 1 error during the set.
Set Three: While the third and final game was the least competitive, CIU still had a chance after an Abbey Kleist kill cut the Milligan lead to 19-17. Unfortunately, it was the closest the Rams would get as they lost the final set 25-20.
Game Notes:
- Megan Lung and Abbey Kleist hit well for CIU as Lung notched 6 kills on only 2 errors while Kleist had 3 kills as opposed to 1 error. Lung also led CIU with 3 blocks.
- Freshman Emilia Niedzielska led the Rams with 3 aces and 20 digs.
Up Next:
CIU travels to Montreat College on Saturday, October 31st, to try to get back in the win column.
