LAURINBURG, N.C - After a 24-day hiatus from the court, the CIU women's volleyball team was back in action Tuesday night. The Rams traveled to the Carolina border to take on the St. Andrews Knights for the second time this season. CIU defeated SAU earlier this season in late September at home 3-0; however, this evening, the Knights would put up a fight taking CIU to the wire but would fall to the Rams 3-2. CIU moves to 4-3 on the year and stays in the Appalachian Athletic Conference playoff picture while SAU falls to 2-9 on the year.
How it happened:

Set Two: The Rams came out of the gate firing on all cylinders in set two jumping out 7-2. CIU then extended that lead to 16-8 off the De'Asija Harden kill. CIU kept the 8-point lead until the end of the set, winning 25-17 with the winning attack coming from freshman Kira Rymer.
Set Three: The third set was close throughout its entirety, but the Rams pushed ahead for another 8-point set win 25-17. Kamelia De Jesus had 7 assists during the set while Carla Cauchi had a solid defensive showing with 8 digs.
Set Four: CIU struggled at the beginning of the set and trailed 6-1 and despite being able to tie the set at 9, ultimately stumbled to a 25-16 set loss.
Set Five: In the final set, the Rams lagged behind the Knights 10-5, but after three kills from Shaniece Steer and errors from SAU, CIU grasped a 13-10 lead. The Knights tied the game at 14 apiece, but a Megan Lung kill gave CIU a 16-14 set win.
