Women's Soccer Tested By Truett McConnell

COLUMBIA, SC – The CIU women's soccer team hit the pitch on Wednesday after almost two weeks without play. The Rams took on a formidable opponent in the Truett-McConnell Bears, who finished last season with an 18-3 record and entered tonight's game already 5-0-1 on the season. CIU wouldn't go down without, but the Rams were overwhelmed by the Bears stout defense and fell 2-0.

First Half:
-       32:06: CIU keeper Nadia Threatt snags a save after the shot by Bear's All-Conference forward Sydney League.
-       20:17: Ashleigh Smitherman is able to slide a shot past the outstretched arms of Threatt, scoring the first goal of the contest
-       Rams hold the Truett-McConnell to just one first-half goal, and Nadia Threatt records three first-half saves.

Second Half:
-       38:29: Nadia Threat once again thwarts the League attack picking up another save against the Bear's midfielder.
-       22:29: Madison Wright is able to follow up off a missed shot and score the second goal of the contest for TMU
-       5:06: The Ram's leading goal scorer Rebekah Reinehard has an opportunity to find the back of the net but can't connect on the shot.

CIU Goal Keeper - Nadia Threatt 
- Veteran goalkeeper Nadia Threatt had 14 saves holding the reigning conference champions to just 2 goals.
CIU Midfielder - McKenzie Miller 
- Midfielder McKenzie Miller battled all night and was able to find some success against a talented defensive team and the reigning conference defensive player of the year.
