By Gordie Frierson

Sumter, SC - CIU Volleyball would cap off an undefeated week with two non-conference wins Saturday at Morris College. The Rams took on a talented NCAA Division II program, Johnson C. Smith University as well as match host Morris College. CIU would win all 6 sets of the afternoon completing a clean sweep of the tri-match. The wins capped off a stellar week for the Rams that saw them go 6-0. This is the second 6-game win streak for CIU this season, and Saturday's wins put CIU over the .500 mark.

How It Happened

CIU took on Johnson C. Smith to start the afternoon. The Rams started the first set with an ace from Carla Cauchi. Later in the game, Megan Lung would extend the lead to 8-2 with a kill. The Rams would hold strong and win the set 25-20. Stellar defense from Gabriela Vega and more solid play from Cauchi and Lung would propel the Rams to a 25-12 second set win. The third set would see Cauchi and Andrea Salas record aces and take a 7-point lead 16-9. Kills from Lung and De'Asija Harden helped the Rams finish of the Golden Bulls, 25 -20.

Match 2 would see the Rams go up against a familiar face in Morris College. CIU dominated the match from start to finish. Both Lily Tang and Emma Munday stepped and excelled at the setter position for the Rams which opened up the CIU attack. Morris was unable to respond to the powerful hitting of Lung, Harden, and Vega. The Rams would win each set by double digits and leave Sumter with a perfect record on the weekend.
