CIU men's soccer took on the Lions of Bryan College on Saturday at 4:00 PM. While the Rams surged in the second half, it was not enough to secure a result.
The first half began with fast play by both teams. The Bryan College forwards took shots early and often, but the Ram defense was able to repel the Lion attacks. Bryan college forward Lucas Matto would find the back of the net in the 29th minute with a goal just inside the box. The Rams would recover from this early setback and finished the first with a 1-0 deficit.
The second half started with a quick Bryan College goal from Artur Dombrowski. Ten minutes later, the Rams would answer with a goal by Marcos Da Paz. The Ram forward scored off of a deflection from a corner kick by
Romulo Barreto. CIU looked revitalized and looked to draw even with the Lions. Bryan College answered with a chip in from Jonathan Ricketts to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. Fifteen minutes later the Lions would be awarded a penalty kick. Lion midfielder Brad Spooner would be denied on the penalty by
Hugo Lemus. Bryan College would score another late goal in the 87th minute to make the final score 4-1 Lions.
The Rams look to their next game against Bluefield College on Wednesday, September 25th.
