Jacksonville, FL - The CIU Women's basketball team went on the road to start the season Saturday afternoon. The Rams traveled to Jacksonville, FL, and picked up a big season-opening win over the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College. The contest was the first matchup between the two teams since 2017. The Rams are undefeated against the Eagles all-time after notching the 76-51 win.
How It Happened
The Rams jumped all over the Eagles from the opening tip leading 20-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Rams would continue to hold the lead in the second quarter behind the play of senior Jordan Sprueill. Sprueill would score 23 points on the game and help the Rams to a 37-22 advantage at the half. The third quarter would prove to be the most competitive as both teams would score 17 points during the period. However, the fourth quarter would display the better team as the Rams pulled out of reach to win the game 76-51.Â

- Senior Jordan Sprueill scored 23 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the field. Sprueill would also be one rebound shy of a double-double.
- Tiona Walls would have phenomenal start to her freshman season with 19 points and 8 boards.Â
- Larissa Lee would be deadly from three knocking down 4 three-pointers while shooting 66% from behind the arc.
- CIU shot 46% from deep while holding the Eagles to just 26% from three-point range.
- The Rams took care of the ball, only recording 4 turnovers on the afternoon.Â

"Tonight's win was a team effort; I thought we had good energy. At times our defense looked outstanding, and we moved the ball well. We will enjoy this win, but on Monday, our focus will be on our first conference game against Allen."Â
