Columbia, SC - CIU women's soccer traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia Thursday afternoon to open up the NCCAA South Region Tournament. The Rams would battle Brewton-Parker College for the second year in a row in the semi-final match. While CIU fought well, they would ultimately fall to the Barons.
The first half saw both teams begin in a stalemate, as neither side was able to create separation. BPC was able to get offensive pressure with nine shots, five being saved by CIU goalkeeper
Nadia Threatt. The Rams were also able to generate four shots on net but were unable to convert any of these opportunities. The first half ended in a scoreless deadlock.
As the second half began, the Rams looked to create separation from the Barons. However, the Baron defense proved too stern of a test for the Ram attackers, as CIU only registered one shot on net in the second half. The momentum shifted in the 62nd minute when a PK was awarded to BPC. Baron forward Deandra Pickering scored the PK to give BPC a 1-0 lead. The Rams tried to even the tide but were unable to get past the BPC defenders. The Barons put the game away in the 88th minute with a goal from Dasia Shepard to make the final score 2-0 BPC.
