The Columbia International University Women's Basketball team took to the road looking to continue their winning ways. Today the Rams took on Brenau University on their home court, but a strong first and fourth quarter lifted the Rams to their third straight victory. The Rams have now won their third straight and first road game of the year.
1st Quarter Highlights:
- The Rams started the quarter off strong as they opened the game on an 8-0
- Queeneka Howard started the run off with a three, Jordan Sprueill follow with a layup and free throw of her own. Keniah Watkins finish off the run with a fast break layup
- The Golden Tigers would go on an 8-0 run of their own over the next five minutes to tie the game
- To close out the quarter the Rams scored five straight points on another three by Howard and layup by Watkins
2nd Quarter Highlights:
- Each team struggled to get going at the beginning of the quarter, but the Golden Tigers would score the first points
- The Rams would score the next five points off a Sprueill layup and a Britney Brown three to lead 18-10
- The Golden Tigers would go on another 8-0 run to tie the game with just over three minutes left in the quarter
- Another three by Brown gave the Rams the lead back
- With a minute left in the quarter the Golden Tigers pulled within three, but a layup by Sprueill gave the Rams a 24-20 lead at the half
3rd Quarter Highlights:
- The Golden Tigers scored the first four points of the quarter to tie the game at 24
- A jumper by Sprueill gave the Rams the lead back, but the Golden Tigers would once again tie the game at 26
- The Rams would go on another 8-0 run to jump out in front 34-26
- The teams traded baskets, but with just over three minutes left in the quarter the Rams took a double digit lead on a layup by Hannah Trawick
- With just under a minute left the Golden Tigers pulled within two of the Rams, but a jumper by Brown gave the Rams a 43-39 lead after thirty minutes
4th Quarter Highlights:
- Two free throws by the Golden Tigers pulled them back within two
- The Rams got on the board with a three by Howard and a layup by Brown to go up by seven
- The two teams traded baskets, but with 3:44 left in the game the Rams lead was down to one
- A free throw by Sprueill and a layup by Brown gave the Rams a four point lead
- The Golden Tigers pulled back within two of the Rams, but the Rams scored the final six points to win 60-52
