The Columbia International University Women's Basketball team was back on the court tonight after picking up their first win of the season on Monday against Union College. Tonight the Rams welcomed the Rams of Bluefield College for the Battle of the Rams. Columbia International had the lead most of the game, but a late surge by Bluefield dead locked the game in the final seconds. Britney Brown was the hero for the Rams as she nailed a three with just three seconds left in the game to lift CIU to a 55-52 victory.

1st Quarter Highlights:

• Jordan Sprueill got CIU on the board first with a layup and a free throw
• Bluefield would score two points on their next possession and take the lead with 6:30 left in the quarter
• CIU would score the next seven points off a jumper from Sprueill and five points from Larissa Lee
• Bluefield would pull within three, but a last second three by Britney Brown gave CIU a 13-7 lead after the first ten minutes

2nd Quarter Highlights:

• Bluefield would get on the board first, but four straight points by Keniah Watkins gave CIU a nine point lead
• Each team would go back and forth as they tried to one up one another, but with 1:54 left in the quarter the Rams were up by nine
• The Rams would get a free throw from Brown and have their first double digit lead of the game
• Bluefield would pull within five with just a couple seconds left in the half, but another three by Brown gave CIU a 28-20 lead at the half

3rd Quarter Highlights:

• Just a minute into the quarter CIU would regain their double digit lead off a jumper by Sprueill
• After two straight baskets by Lakelyn Malovic and Queeneka Howard gave the Rams a twelve point lead
• CIU held onto their double digit lead for over four minutes, but Bluefield pulled back within single digits at the end of the quarter
• At the end of the quarter CIU was leading 38-32

4th Quarter Highlights:

• The Rams opened the quarter with four straight points by Sprueill and Malovic
• After trading baskets, Bluefield pulled within three with five minutes left in the game
• After going back and forth again Bluefield came within one point of tying the game, but CIU would go back up by five with just under two minutes left
• With only twenty-six seconds left in the game Bluefield was able to hit a three and tie the game at 52
• Just like the first two quarters the Rams found the hot hand and gave the ball to Britney Brown. Brown launched the ball and found nothing, but net to give the Rams a 55-52 victory

Box Score Highlights:

• Columbia International shot 46.5% (20-of-43) from the field and were 5-of-12 from the three point line...Bluefield shot 31.5% (17-of-54) and were only 4-of-26 from beyond the arc...Bluefield held a small 36-30 rebounding advantage...Columbia International dished out 13 assists...Jordan Sprueill and Larissa Lee had 14 points a piece to lead CIU...Britney Brown was the third CIU player in double figures with 11 points and chipped in with three rebounds and three assists...Danae Cox led Bluefield with 22 points
