Rams Winning Streak Snapped on the Road

The Columbia International University Men's Basketball team hit the road on a three game conference winning streak. They were looking to push it to four against Milligan College who beat them at home earlier in the season. The Rams were up at half time, but a big second half by the Buffaloes push them to a 80-70 victory.

1st Half Highlights:
  • The Buffaloes opened the game with a three, but the Rams first points came from Arthur Pearson
  • Jeff McIlwain would follow that up with a layup after a beautiful pass from Tajae Anderson
  • The Buffaloes held onto an early lead, but just five minutes in the Rams got their first lead of the game on a jumper by Tajae Anderson
  • Corey Benton would hit a three on the next possession for the Rams
  • The Buffaloes forced their way back into the game and tied it at 19 before taking a 22-19 lead
  • Benton was back at it though as he hit a three to tie the game at 22
  • McIlwain and Anderson would push the Rams lead to six, but the Buffaloes would fight back and pull within three on two occasions
  • At the half the Rams led 37-30
2nd Half Highlights:
  • Over the opening two minutes in the half the Rams would push their lead to nine
  • The teams would trade baskets over the next several minutes, but the Rams maintained their single digit lead
  • At the 10:39 mark the Buffaloes fought back and tied the game at 55 before taking the lead on the next free throw
  • A free throw by McIlwain would tie the game for the time being
  • The Buffaloes would take a four point lead on two straight baskets, but a three by Kyren Bolden cut the lead back to one
  • The Rams took a 61-60 lead after a jumper by Benton in the lane
  • The teams would once again trade baskets with the game being tied at 63 and 65
  • The Buffaloes raced out to a 12 point lead with just forty-four seconds left in the game
  • A three by Eric Graham with thirty six seconds left pulled the Rams within nine
  • At the end of an exciting 40 minutes the Buffaloes won 80-70 on their home court
Box Score Highlights:
  • The Rams shot 42.9% from the floor, but were just 7-of-27 from the three point line, while the Buffaloes shot 41% and were 20-of-26 from the charity stripe...The Buffaloes held a small 43-37 advantage on the glass...The Rams did a good limiting turnovers to nine and dishing out 14 assists...Corey Benton lead the Rams with 20 points...Arthur Pearson pitched in with 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists...Jeff McIlwain just missed out on a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds...Aaron Levarity led the Buffaloes with 23 points and 16 rebounds.
