Rams Mount the Comeback to Win First Conference Game
The Columbia International University Men's Soccer team was back on the field tonight after having a whole week off due to Hurricane Florence. The Rams hosted Truett-McConnell University for the first ever AAC Conference game. Tonight's game was a fight, but the Rams fought and came back to win the game 4-3. The Rams move to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference, while the Bears fall to 4-2 overall.

1st Half Highlights:
  • The Rams got off the first two shots of the game thanks to Rahim Gordon and Marcos da Paz
  • The Bears would start to find their footing on the field and they grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a goal halfway through the half
  • Just over ten minutes later the Bears got their second goal of the night to take the 2-0 lead
  • The Rams would put the pressure on again and were awarded with their first goal of the night when Doran Battermann kicked the ball in off assists from Rahim Gordon and Victor Maron
  • The Bears would take a 2-1 lead into the break
2nd Half Highlights:
  • The Bears came out looking to add to their lead, but couldn't convert on their chances, however Marcos da Paz would convert off a ball from Battermann and the Rams tied the game at two
  • The Rams took the momentum and continued to push for another goal
  • At the 26:17 mark the ball was bouncing around after a Nathanael Ruth shot and Ricky Prestridge was able to find it and deposit it in the back of the net to give the Rams a 3-2 lead
  • The Bears started to push back and gained back some of the momentum when they scored to tie the game with just under five minutes remaining
  • That was a wake up call for the Rams as they went back on the attack and pushed deep into the Bears territory
  • Rahim Gordon was able to work some magic and find Prestridge in the box and Prestridge did not miss his golden opportunity for the Rams. With just a minute and fifteen seconds of the clock the Rams took the 4-3 lead
  • The Bears would not get another shot off as the Rams won 4-3

Box Score Numbers:
  • Each team had sixteen shots, but the Rams had nine on goal, while the Bears had eight...Hugo Lemus had five saves for the Rams...The Rams also had seven corners to the Bears three...Ricky Prestridge led the Rams with two goals...Doran Battermann had a goal and an assist on the night...Rahim Gordon picked up two assists....The Bears had three different goal scorers
Up Next: The Rams will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to take on Tennessee Wesleyan at 4 pm.
