Columbia, SC -- The Columbia International University men's basketball team welcomed the Truett-McConnell University Bears to the Moore Fitness Center today. The Bears were riding high since the two teams played earlier in the year and the Rams were looking to put a halt to their losing streak.

The Basics
  • Score: CIU 73 / Truett-McConnell 91
  • Records: CIU, 6-18 / Truett-McConnell, 18-10

How it Happened:
  • The Bears scored the first points of the game, but on the Rams next possession the Rams would get on the board and take the lead after a three from Jacob Cook. The Bears would regain the lead, but the Rams would tie it at six. The Bears would hold onto the lead until the Rams cut the lead to one on multiple occasions off shots from Damarcus Gay and Juraj Rovis.
  • At the 6:31 mark the Rams would tie the game at 28 after free throws from Gay. Throughout the rest of the half the Bears would extend their lead and take a 46-33 advantage into the break.
  • The Rams would battle to start the second half, but the Bears would hold onto a double figure lead. The Rams fight continued to pull them closer and at the 4:43 mark, thanks a layup from Micah Banks the Rams only trailed by 10.
  • After another layup from Banks the Rams trimmed the lead to single digits. They trimmed the Bears lead to seven, but the Bears would then pull away and win by the final score of 91-73.

  • The Rams shot 42.4% (28-of-66) from the floor and were 7-of-18 from the three point line
  • Damarcus Gay led the Rams with 24 points
  • Micah Banks had a solid game with 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists
